julia child?

As you know, I usually write about life and craft (my two main loves), but I would love to write about one specific topic and connect with other groups and people who want to learn/talk more on the topic. Of course I am reffering to food. A very common blog topic and with the recent movie 'Julie & Julia', it has become so popular. I love to cook, but I confess my knowledge of gourmet cuisine is limited. I can bake cakes with ease, make beautiful hot breakfasts, lovely fresh sandwiches, but I really struggle to make a good dinner. I've heard it so many times that meals dont have to be hard to be tasty and enjoyable, but I just don't know where to start. So maybe I should take the Julia Child approach. My mum has a few lovely and simple cookbooks that I could work through, or I could just experiment aimlessly.

I think I know what got me started on this topic. Today while I performed a huge list of cleaning duties (which I subjected myself to) I watched bits and pieces of Nigella Bites, Martha and Jamie at home. Talk about an inferiority complex. But the only way to fix that problem is to work at it. I need to buy a serious trolley full of ingredients and cook my determined butt off.

I know that face. That looks like me when I try to cook a serious meal.

Thanks for following my blog, and might I add: Go for it! I'm by no means a well rounded cook, but I think that you've got a good outlook on this and surrounding yourself with the cookbooks of chefs you admire is a great way to start!
